No...I've only seen the trailer on YouTube... (which pretty well sums up the story, I"d think...)

I wonder if it's on Netflix or something like that?

I guess the idea is to be financially supporting them by purchasing it....

RE: Favourite Cookbooks

LEAN BEAN CUISINE by Jay Solomon is a good cookbook. And like Caroline says any thing that is not vegan you can easily substitue vegan for like using vegan broth instead of chicken broth or soy milk instead of dairy milk. If it calls for meat just substitute tofu or use none at all! Just take the animal out of the equation and go completely vegan! Vegan with a Vengence! That's another book btw! :-))))

RE: Favourite Cookbooks

Veganomicon: The Ultimate Vegan Cookbook by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope is absolutely superior for an all-around vegan cookbook. My wife (who is supportive but not joining me in this lowfat vegan adventure) bought it for me and has loved the recipes I've made for her. I would even call many of the "company-worthy"

Lickin' the Beaters: Low Fat Vegan Desserts by Siue Moffat is worth trying. They have too much fat for Dr. Bernard's regimen, so I adjust. They are usually too sweet for my taste, so I also cut back on the recipe.

Lean Bean Cuisine: Over 100 Tasty Meatless Recipes from Around the World by Jay Solomon is one of the more interesting bean recipe collections I've ever found.

Vegetable Soups from Deborah Madison's Kitchen (by Deborah Madison, of course)is an excellent soup book. I never thought I'd buy a book of soup recipes, but I got this one after discovering it in the library. I've tried a few, adjusted for lowfat vegan, and they're worth trying again. I like more flavor and will experiment with her unique recipies. For instance, adding corn meal, smoked paprika and white pepper upped the flavor of her Wild Rice Chowder. I didn't use any cream or milk substitute, and my wife is shocked that it doesn't have milk in it at all. It's a hit!

Finally, there are some oil-less Indian recipe books on Amazon.com. I may get some but will use the Indian recipes I have and adjust so as to cook without oil. Trying foods from diverse cultures will keep things interesting.

book comparison question

i just posted a question about the two books in the Diabetes Forum...

i'm hypoglycemic but have a history of diabetes in my family and i'm experiencing small symptoms now like very thirsty ... i'll be getting it checked out but wanted to get on the right program ASAP

i'm reading "Breaking the Food Seduction" now and was wondering if you could tell me what the difference is between the two books? if it is something really significant, i was thinking of getting Reversing Diabetes tomorrow and then reading that first instead ... otherwise i'll just wait until i finish Food Seduction

thanks

RE: Eating Out

Eating out is very difficult. I usually order a salad, I ask in advance that there is no cheese, etc. And I take my own salad dressing. Sometimes I'll order a baked potato, again with my own toppings. We do have a local restaurant that is vegetarian and vegan. The menu is clearly marked and it is SO nice to go there. When traveling I always check on-line to see if there is a vegetarian or vegan restaurant in the area.
